01 / Origins
How it began
The reunion effort grew out of social-media efforts to reconnect people who grew up in Carver Village and attended Pearly Smith Elementary School. Online connections became conversations about gathering again. Those conversations developed into reunion planning, volunteer participation, recurring events, and, later, a formal nonprofit organization.
The work centered on bringing people together, reaching younger generations, preserving community history, supporting reunions, and building connections with organizations serving the community.
